Alexis Bellino is saying yes to forever.
The Real Housewives of Orange County star is officially engaged to John Janssen—who previously dated Alexis’ costar Shannon Beador.
“On Cloud 9,” Alexis began an Aug. 28 post, which featured her and John smiling together as she showed off a sizable diamond ring on that finger. “Celebrating 9 months of love and laughter, and looking forward to my forever with you. Every moment together has been a gift. I am so in love with you and the beautiful life we’re building together with our kids.”
As she put it, “The answer is 100000000% yes.” The 47-year-old signed off her post with a Bible verse reading, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love” along with the hashtag “giftfrommymom.”
Alexis also shared an additional post in which she provide some additional details of the moment John popped the question. “My hair was frizzy, my nails are NOT DONE!!!!” she wrote. “And my outfit was sub par. BUT the moment was pure perfection. In the most exclusive, secluded, intimate, loving, moment.
While their engagement shouldn’t come as a total surprise—after all, Alexis told E! News in July she and John were looking at rings together—the fact they began dating at all shocked Bravo fans, given their complicated history.
Not only did John and Shannon previously date for more than three years, but Alexis’ ex-husband Jim Bellino sued both Shannon and her costar Tamra Judge for defamation in 2018, several years after Alexis left the series following season eight.
So when John and Alexis did confirm their romance at the close of 2023, Shannon did not hold back in sharing her feelings about it.
"I'm not going to lie, I've been hurt," the Bravolebrity told E! News at the time. "I've been hurt a lot in the last couple of weeks because, No. 1, John said that he didn't want to be in the public eye, and he's thrust himself more into the public eye at this point. So, I'm quite confused about that."
Shannon—who shares daughter Sophie and twins Stella and Adeline with ex David Beador—continued, “John is very well aware of a lawsuit that I was involved in with Jim Bellino, and Alexis was involved in that lawsuit. I was financially and emotionally devastated for years. And I won. But it devastated me financially. And I'm a single mom. John's aware of that."
But despite the noise about their relationship, both Alexis and John have been candid about how happy they are together.
"We're amazing," Alexis gushed in her conversation with E! in July. "It gets better every day. We both are kind of like 'pinch me' in the fact that we truly found like a best friend and someone that we want to ride the rest of this life out with together. It's pretty amazing."
That same month, John told Carlos King on the July 30 episode of the Reality With the King podcast of his and Alexis’ relationship, “This is what it's supposed to be like. There's a lot of stress that's gone from my life, and, you know, it's sad.”
It was during that conversation, too, that the businessman shaded his time with Shannon.
“I wanna say that my relationship with Shannon was real,” he reflected. “She has a wonderful side to her. But I think people out there just assume John was the problem in the relationship, and I would just challenge people to think about what it might be like to be with Shannon.”
But despite saying that he tried to make the relationship work, he continued, “What was it like? It was, 'What it is like to fail every day, all day, every day? To fail at everything?' That's what it felt like to date her.”
Meanwhile, Shannon still isn’t buying what Alexis and John are selling. "From the outside looking in, it looks to me that there are ulterior motives on both sides for them to be in a relationship, so we'll see," the 60-year-old told E! News in July. "I'm grateful that John isn't in my life because we had a very toxic relationship. I'm grateful."
And only hours after her ex and his now-fiancée shared their exciting news, Shannon captioned an Instagram post, “Nothing but love for those close to me…”
